Winner of LT-Innovate prize

Temis, an associated partner in CLARA, is one of the winners of the LT-Innovate prize awarded at the summit on June 19, 2012.

First ER has completed

Dr. Måns Huldén has successfully completed his period as Experienced Researcher at the University of Helsinki on Nov. 30, 2011.  His research was in the CLARA subproject Finite-state parsing methods, a cooperative effort between the University of Helsinki and the University of Tübingen. The overall aim of the subproject was to deepen the understanding of these methods and invent new applications for large-scale language processing tasks such as shallow parsing and information extraction. This research has resulted in a number of publications (see the Results page).

MT researcher position reannounced

Tilde, a partner in CLARA, has reannounced an ESR position in the area of Machine Translation.  Read the full announcement under Vacancies until the deadline of March 4, 2012.

Winter school in Prague announced

The Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics of the Charles University in Prague has announced their CLARA Winter School on New Developments in CL.  The school will be held in Prague from Feb. 13 through 17, 2012.  CLARA fellows as well as external PhD level researchers are encouraged to register and attend.

Summary of the Summer School at the Max Planck Institute, Nijmegen

The CLARA Summer School on Infrastructure Tool Development has taken place at Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics on 5th – 12th July.

Participants came from several institutions, including University of Bielefeld, Technical University of Aachen, Giessen University or Technical School of Mittelhessen. Some representatives of Max Planck staff also participated in parts of the summer school, especially those requiring less technical expertise. Altogether they have created a very inspiring and productive group that managed to carry out the tasks planned for the event and also came up with some new ideas for developing useful things, which also have been done during the summer school.
